How to set Google search as a Homepage in Firefox 12

How to set Google search as a Homepage in Firefox 12 I have recently downloaded a new Firefox version i.e. Firefox 12 and installed it on my desktop computer. After installation I found out that it replaced my old, reliable and best search engine Google with a new one i.e. “Bing”. I don’t like this search engine and want to get rid of it as soon as possible. I have used Google from past few years now and now I don’t want to change it at any cost and even my computer knowledge is not that well, that I’ll make a change by my own so can someone guide me how to change from Bing to Google search. I want Google Search as my default home page..? First I thought “Bing” is the default home page provided by Firefox and cannot be changed so I used the same for few days but I was very much missing my favorite Google so I searched for solution to set Google as my default home page and trust me it is so damn easy to set your own homepage in Firefox 12. Just the matter of few steps and you will be able to set the Home page you like. There are just three simple steps and you will be able to set your home page: Open the website you want to set your home page(In your case it would be www.google.co.in) Click the Icon to the left of the web address; drag it to the Home Button, and then release. Click yes to set this as you home page. These three simple steps will help you set your home page. Reply With Quote Reply

Firefox 12 showing “insecure version” message

Firefox 12 showing “insecure version” message Now I have recently updated my browser to version 12 and you wont believe when I went to the help page I got a message saying that this version that you are using is the insecure version. I don’t understand which is the secure version. As per my dictionary I know that for every threat we should be updated with the latest version. Now I am having the latest version of this browser then why am I getting this insecure version message, I need to know about it? can you all please tell me as if what is exactly wrong with this browser. Please let me know as soon as possible. Isn’t this version of the browser the secured one? That’s what I want to know from you. Any replies that you all have for me then please do reply it as soon as possible. I am waiting for the response from your side. Please reply as soon as possible. It is always advisable to do a simple restart of the browser after having updated to the latest version. You haven't restarted the browser that’s why you were getting such kind of message. There can be a possibility that the Firefox home page that you accessed wont be updated with the welcome message, so that’s why it might be a technical issue as well. as far as your concerns about the FF 12 is concerned then let me tell you that you don’t have to worry about the security it is quite updated and it isn’t insecure at all. So you can use this browser without any problems at all. I hope I have given the necessary message for you. that’s it from my side for you. As the above user has said correctly restart the browser and then check. One more possibility is that you might have accessed the support page and have clicked on the FF11 as your browser that’s why it is giving you such kind of message. FF 11 is a old browser according to the history of the browser that’s why it is giving you such message. Don’t forget to select FF 12 from henceforth and don’t worry Firefox 12 is a good and secured browser. Reply With Quote Reply

Norton conflicting with Firefox browser protect

Norton conflicting with Firefox browser protect I am not an expert with computers nor do I understand any technical terms issues. Things I know about my system is with my own will. Recently got a new Firefox Browser Protect, I must say that this product is one of the best one that I have ever used. I never faced any issue or problem or had any related complains with the functioning of this product. I have this product already installed on my other mini laptop and as expected its working great and fine. Believing that it would work the same in my customized desktop computer I installed it into it. but then from past two days I have seen some kind of conflict between this product and Norton internet security 2012 which is installed in the same machine. The problem is that whenever I check out my Norton internet security 2012 history file I have noticed that this internet security protects or you can say prevents the browser protect from trying to create a registry key. At every 10 to 15 seconds of interval of time the browser protect is trying to create the registry key and as usual Norton blocks it from doing so. I still don’t have any idea why Norton is doing so, why it is not allow browser protect to create the registry key. On my other machine I have both Norton and browser protect installed successfully and also I never faced any problem at the time when the browser protect tried to create the registry key but then why in this new system Norton is behaving so different and specially. I have already tried getting help from Browser protect official forum but seems like nobody is interested in even checking out my thread and providing me with some solution. I am here hoping that at least here I would get some help and I can get my problem resolved as soon as possible in a much safer manner. Reply With Quote #2 Unread 1 Week Ago DamarisK DamarisK is offline Member Join Date: Jun 2011 Posts: 428 Re: Norton conflicting with Firefox browser protect Now I can surely say that the issue has something to do with the internet security that I have installed into my machine. You won’t believe, I too have the same problem from past 1 month and the issue is still unsolved. I consulted so much people including the browser protect Support center but as you stated they were actually not interested in resolving my problem, in fact they were not even aware of this issue. When I explained them about the problem I am facing they completely ignored the fault and told that there might be some problem with the internet security that I have installed. From past so many days I was in search of at least one user you might be facing this same problem having the same version of Norton Internet Security 2012 installed in his or her machine but didn’t find even a single person with the exact same issue. Actually the problem was that I didn’t find even a single user using the combination of Norton internet security 2012 and Firefox browser protect. Either they use to have a different internet security or a different browser protect. Maybe due to this reason I didn’t get anyone with the same issue. but now after reading your thread I understood that the problem is surely with Norton Internet security using browser protect. At least I can say that the count has now been incremented by one i.e. you. Hope fully we will get some solution. Reply With Quote #3 Unread 1 Week Ago AliyaK AliyaK is offline Member Join Date: Jul 2011 Posts: 291 Re: Norton conflicting with Firefox browser protect Look I am not aware of this issue but after reading out this tread and the posts I decided to suggest you with some possible things. If you are really very much sure that the issue is completely caused due to the Norton internet security that you have installed in your machine why don’t you contact the support center of this product and not the browser protect. Instead of calling up the browser protect care center and hearing that they are no way reason for causing this problem you can directly get some related information about the internet security program that you have. Do one thing, open a simply visit the Norton forum site and over there first open an account and then ask the same question over there, if the issue is related to the program then surely you might end up getting multiple replies along with some suitable solution and guidance. There are number or Norton experts who are present over there to help the users of Norton. Till now this is the only suggestion or you can say solution I can give you regarding your problem because technically even I am not aware of computer technologies. Hope I helped you in some of the other way. Reply With Quote #4 Unread 1 Week Ago Ataa Ataa is offline Member Join Date: Apr 2012 Posts: 17 Re: Norton conflicting with Firefox browser protect Until now I have done a I have only been able to do a live update with Norton and let me tell you that all the features of this program are working well and fine without any problem, also the Norton tool bar is functioning quite well. There is no such thing from which I am having any problem or which is showing any kind of unusual behavior. But then I am still unable to understand why exactly the Browser Protect is trying to generate the register key after every 15 seconds, I know that Norton internet security is not allowing the browser protect to create it and therefore it is restricting the browser protect all the time it is attempting to generate the key. As I already told that I don’t have much knowledge about computer and therefore I am unable to even make out the issue properly. it would be more helpful to me if some present over here provide me with the email address for the Browser protect or contact details is also preferable for me but do provide me with something. Please help me out as soon as possible and do let me know how should I reach browser protect and Norton for sharing my problem with them so that I can let them know about this issue. Reply With Quote #5 Unread 1 Week Ago Elazar Elazar is offline Member Join Date: Nov 2010 Posts: 352 Re: Norton conflicting with Firefox browser protect First of all let me tell you that if you are facing this problem till now and if you feel that this issue be being much more severe for now then I think you need to open up a support ticket in Norton. You can open the ticket by getting into norton’s official site. If you are not aware of the site then you need not have to worry just CLICK HERE to reach the Norton support and open a support ticket for your issue. Another thing I would like to tell you is that, if I am not mistaken then I think now Norton has become fully compatible with Firefox especially with Firefox 12. I have read about it. They mentioned that all the Norton toolbar is now very much compatible with Firefox 12. In fact the recently released Internet Security by Norton i.e. 19.7.0.9 has also included a compatibility patch for the version 12 of Firefox which has been recently released. Other than this they have also released a Firefox 12 compatibility patch for the Norton Internet Security 18.7.1.3 and for you information this patch is available through LiveUpdate. If you are running Norton Internet Security 19.7.0.9, then your Norton Toolbar is already compatible with Firefox 12. Reply With Quote

Unable to open new Tabs in Firefox 12

Unable to open new Tabs in Firefox 12 I am online for most of the time and like to keep my PC and my software up-to-date as much as I can. Just two nights back I updated my browser i.e. Firefox 11 to Firefox 12 and was happy to see all my settings perfect and correct in options. But now I have experienced that I am unable to open a new tab. I get a new window instead. Also in my options I have checked out besides tabs on top it is grayed out and I am unable to change this thing. I am unable to understand why Mozilla did this installation is it the problem with new version or issues are from my end. I do not understand at all. I hope someone could help me with this? This is the compatibility issue with the Ask tool bar following a security update in Firefox 12. You can simply follow the steps I am mentioning and enjoy to use your Firefox again as you were using it. Follow the following steps: Go to Tools from menu bar Click on Add-ons from the list of menus given. Select Extensions from the Window. Select Ask Toolbar. Click Uninstall or disable. Restart Firefox. Hope this works for you as we tried same thing on my friends PC and it worked for him.. I tried the above solution but it was in vain as I had no Ask Tool Bar installed. I have searched again and again so it is confirmed my problem is not happening due to the Ask Tool bar. So can someone suggest me a different solution as it is very irritating to have a new window for everything? You can just imagine it becomes so damn difficult to see Facebook, Twitter and Gmail all in different windows. Reply With Quote #4 Unread 1 Week Ago Aadidev Aadidev is offline Member Join Date: May 2011 Posts: 216 Re: Unable to open new Tabs in Firefox 12 Yes, I can just imagine surfing different windows for different websites quite frustrating it is. Sometimes some faulty extensions or hardware acceleration may cause this issues what you can do is try running the Firefox in safe mode and check if the problem still exists. You can access Mozilla Firefox safe mode from all programs list in Mozilla tab. When Firefox Safe mode window appears, press the button Continue in Safe Mode. If your problem does not persist in Safe Mode then it is caused by one of the extensions. Now there are some steps in which you can determine which extension is causing you the problem. Click “Tools”, Select “Add-ons” an Add-ons window will appear. In the Add-ons window select the “Extension” panel Click the name of the extension to select it Click “Disable” to disable to the selected extension Repeat this for each of the extensions in the list Click “Restart Firefox”. After you restart, all the selected extensions will be disabled. Test for your problem and just uninstall it. Reply With Quote

Unable to attach a file in Gmail using Firefox 12

Unable to attach a file in Gmail using Firefox 12 Hi, Can anyone help me attach a file in Gmail. I have been using Firefox 11from past a few months now and had never experienced such problem in Firefox 11 but this newer version has really disappointed me a lot before upgrading my browser to Firefox 12 I was using its earlier version i.e. Firefox 11 with Internet Explorer. It’s working well in Internet Explorer but not in Firefox 12. As my organizations website is best viewed in Mozilla Firefox I have to continue using it but it’s troubling me a lot as I am unable to send even a single attachment. I tried doing it in Firefox Safe mode but it didn’t worked either so now I am helpless so any help in regards of this will be appreciated. Thank You Reply With Quote #2 Unread 1 Week Ago Beatricef Beatricef is offline Member Join Date: May 2011 Posts: 311 Re: Unable to attach a file in Gmail using Firefox 12 I had the similar problem and I fixed it yesterday. Whenever I was trying to upload an attachment from my Gmail account nothing was happening not even an error message was flashing on my screen. I was not able to upload attachments with Firefox and not even from Internet Explorer. The problem may be you might have accidentally changed the internet settings of your computer. This could have done by many ways and you might have not even realized about it. Even I use Firefox regularly but I used Internet explorer to fix this problem. I did some simple changes from my Internet browser, Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced When you are in the Advanced tab, do these two things Click "Restore Advanced Settings" and then Click RESET and OK to all the message warnings. After I did this I am able to attach files from both the browsers Internet Explorer as well as Firefox. So even I was wondering, what the issue is. First I thought there is some problem with new version Of Mozilla Firefox and ignored it but after few days I came to know a surprising fact which I never knew. The problem seemed to be so simple; it was just that I ignored it. Interestingly Gmail uses Flash to attach files to an email. So I just tried updating my Adobe flash Player. Upgraded latest Adobe Flash Player and now I am able to attach files to Gmail. If you’re facing problems in attaching files on Gmail then make sure that you have Flash installed in your system. Visit http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ to check for updates and download the latest version of Adobe flash Player as you have updated your browser. In addition please make sure that Flash is not being blocked on your computer. If your computers default browser is Firefox, then make sure it’s not in offline mode. Switch your attachment settings from “Advanced Attachment Features” to “Basic Attachment Features”. Disable your Proxy. I am sure it will help you. Reply With Quote Reply

Google Search pages not opening in Firefox 12

Google Search pages not opening in Firefox 12 I have recently updated my browser to Firefox 12 and since then I am facing issues while accessing websites on Google. I am able to search the content but whenever I click on certain link the browser just reloads the same page rather than loading new page in the same tab. I thought it might be opening the link in new tab or a new window but it’s not such. It happens like this when I click on any link from Google search page it shows connecting and has the circular busy indicator but it loads back the same page where I am present. So in order to view that link I have to right click on the mouse and open the link in new Tab. On a lot of websites the link open in the same tab or in another new tab. I searched on Google and came to know about the new Anti-Duplicate tab feature. If this is the feature then how should I disable it…? I am using OS X 10.6.8. Need urgent help. I surf content on Google, and it’s loading the links I click. May be problem is with your own browser because I don’t think any feature or anything such has affected Firefox 12. Because I am not facing any problems while using the browser perfectly. May be the problem you’re facing is due to the Cache and Cookies. I’ll suggest you to clear your cache and Cookies and then try and run the Firefox in Safe mode. You can go to Mozilla Firefox Safe mode through your All Programs. You’ll find it under Mozilla Firefox option. Check if you are facing the same problem in Mozilla Firefox Safe Mode. For clearing your Cache and Cookies follow these steps: For Clearing the Cache: Tools>Options>Advanced>Network>Clear Now (From offline Storage) For Clearing the Cookies: Tools>Options>Privacy>Clear Your Recent History>Select Time Range to Every Thing>OK For Switching to your Default theme: Tools>Add-ons>Themes>Select default Firefox Theme and Click enable Hope this all steps work for you because I really don’t think of any issues with the New version of Firefox 12. Firefox 12 fails to remember Passwords

Firefox 12 fails to remember Passwords I am tired of this same old thing again and again. I was facing the same problem in Firefox 11 felt like that the new version will have something better to offer but the same thing goes with the new version also, both the versions of Firefox 11 and 12 do not save or remember passwords. I freshly installed Firefox 12 thought that at least this version will help to save passwords but nothing of that sorts is offered. I read about 20 articles and tried as many as solutions I can. The Always use primitive session is not ticked. I have not installed any plug-ins. The Remember Passwords for sites is ticked and it’s nothing about protected sites. I tried the Firefox Safe mode, it offers password save. But when I again come back to normal mode the problem exists. There are no Add-ons to be disabled. Please solve this as it is last drop for me. Reply With Quote #2 Unread 1 Week Ago DamarisK DamarisK is offline Member Join Date: Jun 2011 Posts: 428 Re: Firefox 12 fails to remember Passwords I was having a same problem even my passwords were not being saved on any of the websites. I tried the Safe Mode option and after that came to know that there were some Add-ons because of which it was happening. So I deleted the Add-ons and the problem was solved for me but it seems that you have already tried the Safe mode option and as you said there are no Add-ons on your system. While looking for the solutions on Google I found out that there are few other things because of which this problem can occur. I’ll suggest you two things just try them; it may help you sort out your problems. Try to disable Hardware Acceleration Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: “Use Hardware Acceleration when Available” If you are using the Firefox Private Browsing feature, no passwords will be saved automatically. You have to make sure that it does not says (private Browsing) at the top of the Firefox Window. If it does say (Private Browsing), end the Private Browsing session by clicking the “Tools” from Menu bar and selecting “Stop Private Browsing”. There are so many different settings for the same thing it’s really very frustrating when none of them works. Even I was about to quit using Firefox and switch to some other browser but thank god I got a good solution for this problem. Sometimes passwords get automatically cleared while clearing the history, cookie or the Cache of the Browser in such situations we should save the passwords in a different way. There are some steps which will help us to save the passwords permanently into our systems. Go to “Tools” and select “Options”. Select the “Privacy Panel” If Firefox will is set to Use Custom Settings for history and Clear history when Firefox closes is Selected, Click on “Settings” Button. Make sure that you don’t select the saved password Click “OK” to close the option window. By doing this Firefox is configured to not clear your password when closing. Reply With Quote

How can I change the Tab Bar position in Firefox 12

scheduled sms

Hi all, I am working as a volunteer with an NGO which is in its starting phase. We need the scheduled sms facility. I want to save the all sms, mob. no., date and time at one time and the sms should be delivered at the specified date and time to all of our clients. I tried some free sms websites like way2sms.com, but there the scheduled sms can't be delivered at the DND mob. nos. (preferably if customized sms could be imported from Excel sheet at once. ) The next thing is we want this facility free as NGO is in its initial phase. I am new to the forums and this forum as well, so if the above post is more appropriate to be submitted in any other forum category, kindly let me know. Moreover, i want some other good forums websites as well where i could post the same issue and for future reference as well. The process works like--suppose if i want the sms to be delivered later on, i will fix the time and date in the online software, and the date and time got fixed 'online' and whenever the time comes the sms is sent by the online software through sms website at the time being fixed on its own. In this process, the sms server is being asked by the online software to send the message immediately, so sms server did that, and thus sms got delivered at the scheduled time even at DND Nos. IN short, the online software is acting as a servant to me, i asked 'online software' to get the task done by others(sms server/sms websites) at the specific time and he is doing that for me. That software is paid and we can't afford it 'Should i post this query in other categories also??" Is it possible to open a finished iWeb website on a windows 7 computer??

Is it possible to open a finished iWeb website on a windows 7 computer?? Hi guys, I had to develop a website-look alike presentation for which I am planning to iWeb as I am not aware of other standard web development languages. So I am planning to use iWeb as my interface or platform, to call it better for the task of my web development. So, I am not sure how to go about this. I mean, I definitely know to design a website and all but I will have to run it on a windows computer post development. How to do that? I do not have enough time to perform a detailed research on this issue so I have decided to open a forum for this. I am looking for an immediate solution on this issue as I am working on a deadline and I can’t afford to lose out on any time with the trial and error thing. I need a fool-proof, one time solution for my issue. I am not even hinting at the fact that I am not open to experiments as I know nobody can give a solution at the very first go! But as I said, I would prefer a tried solution. I know this is a bit too much to ask from you all who yourself must be busy with a lot of things but when you find a solution I would be glad if you could spare a few minutes and try the solution by yourself so that I can go about with it with the confidence that it will definitely work. Reply With Quote #2 Unread 1 Week Ago Koman Koman is offline Member Join Date: Jul 2011 Posts: 549 re: Is it possible to open a finished iWeb website on a windows 7 computer?? A website look alike presentation sounds a bit of a doubtful mission to accomplish. But I guess, you know what you are doing and that you are confident enough in attaining. We out here always try to provide with solutions that work at the very first go. We love it when an issue is resolved in a single post and I am sure everyone agrees to this. But at times what happens is that either the individual in question fails in explaining the issue properly or the issues are so damn specific to that individual or system that there has to be more than 1 tries to resolve that issue in the most effective way possible. So, the experts out here are not to be blamed. It is not funny for us to see individuals trying hard solving an issue. Anyways, coming back to your issue, I would recommend you to simply publish the website, upload it online if you have webspace and domain, you can also put it as a subdomain or a different page on web. If none of these are available simply do a very simple thing there are n-number of free web upload sites available, you can just upload it there and during your presentation, type in those URLs and play it easily. I hope this gives you a solution in the very first go! I seriously do not mean to offend anyone. That was definitely not my aim when I opened this thread. I just meant to say that I am in a hurry that is all that I wanted to imply through those lines. I don’t have even a single doubt about the fact that our experts on the forum are extremely sincere and talented at the same time. I am very sure that they do not mean to spoil things for anyone and have been making sincere efforts in giving solutions at the very first go. So, I am not looking forward for an argument on the issue, consider it as a typing error because of the bad hassle that I am in. my sincere apologies to all those who felt offended only to clarify that I did not mean to. And talking about the very genuine and sincere that you intended to provide me, I wanted to tell you that there wont be possibly any internet connection at the place where I am giving this presentation. It is undoubtedly my bad that I did not mention it in the question but yeah, this solution is ruled out because of that. So any other quick help would be genuinely appreciated. Reply With Quote #4 Unread 1 Week Ago Koman Koman is offline Member Join Date: Jul 2011 Posts: 549 re: Is it possible to open a finished iWeb website on a windows 7 computer?? Ok1 you are right, you should have mentioned it with you question. So, after a long brain racking session, I happened to come up with a very simple solution which should probably have been the first option to try. Opening the website simply with a browser might help you with the problem. Let me tell you, your presentation won’t be a presentation when you try to open it with a browser or even when you uplad and load in on your windows. It will work and look like a typical website unless designed in a peculiar format. But typically speaking, I don’t really understand your point in trying this complicated way. Ok! Keeping warnings and cons at its place, I would like to start with the solution that I was talking about. Look what you can do is simply place the entire structure of the folder containing your website in the exact same folder and to access that you simply have to double click after opening it from the windows explorer on the files which will ideally be named anything from the following: index.htm, index.html, main.htm, main.html, home.htm, home.html. When you double click on any of this, actually the home page but in your case, the opening slide of your presentation will appear on Internet Explorer or Firefox or any other browser that has been set default. It will open as a website looking exactly the way it would have looked on the internet. The files are not but the same on your computer as it would be on your web hosting site and it occupies the space as it would have rightly occupied on the web space. Reply With Quote #5 Unread 1 Week Ago Affy Affy is offline Member Join Date: Mar 2012 Posts: 42 re: Is it possible to open a finished iWeb website on a windows 7 computer?? Ok! That looks like an extremely helpful solution that you mentioned and I am extremely grateful for that. I have another simple query on the same issue. Look, you asked me save a certain structure of my file on the system which I will be using for the presentation purpose. Totally agreed. But, the doubt that is following me is that I will have access to that computer only on the day of presentation and that too a few minutes before. So, I will be carrying this entire presentation on a pendrive may be. Now I am confused about the path that I got to follow on the code because, the drive letters, the folder structures and everything else on my computer will be different. So, I am a bit confused on that issue. How do I solve that? Also, I have heard that the use of safari or Mozilla is recommended on the windows pc so as to efficiently avoid the compatibility issue if exists any. Because, they say, internet explorer sucks big time when you try to load websites developed on mac on it. So, do I need to carry browser setups for safety? Reply With Quote

Archived mail in Outlook 2011 for Mac

So I brought the new Office 2011 with outlook, so that I can switch from old encourage to this one. The reason I bought this tool for mac is to get the auto-archiving of mail that I have used in earlier Windows version. But in 2011 I could not able to do it. Not perfect that you require cranking up a web browser to accomplish it, but the majority group don't necessitate editing rules extremely frequently so it's not a huge risk. Create an empty pst file from a windows Outlook. 2. Import it into your Outlook Mac 2011. It will create the folders you had created under "on my computer". 3. You can then copy files and folders into those archive folder and even copy folders. It does not do a move (cut and paste) but it's better than exporting to a file you can't see easily. It behaves closer to Outlook for Windows where you are able to view your pst file folder structures and content. Anything under "on my computer" is saved to your desktop. Reply With Quote

Is it Safe to remotely connect my PC with Microsoft Technical Support

Is it Safe to remotely connect my PC with Microsoft Technical Support Since last few days I am in touch with Microsoft Technical support. It’s been a great experience as I have got almost all kind of Technical assistance from there end. Now the person, with whom I am in touch with emails, wants to connect remotely to my computer to provide me with better assistance. I am a bit worried over its safety as I have never tried it before. Is this their normal procedure? Also I want make sure that this request is a Bona-fide request with the authority and knowledge of Microsoft. Microsoft has its support centers across the globe and as a part of delivering support they use the medium of email, phone and remote session. These sessions are recorded too. During the remote session the Engineer can also request you to provide control of your system so that he can remotely perform necessary troubleshooting or some important settings. If you are worried about the security of your personnel stuff and uncomfortable with the idea of remote session, you can either provide them read-only access or else you can simply decline the request asking them to provide you assistance over Phone or email. But it would be better if you allow them to have a remote access to your system. Hope this helps you taking your decision Reply With Quote #3 Unread 6 Days Ago rajni Posts: n/a Re: Is it Safe to remotely connect my PC with Microsoft Technical Support I’ll explain you the procedure, how they’ll connect using the remote connection. They will direct you using a website and will use Office Live Meeting to connect to your machine. This is the common procedure when they are directing you to do something. They will ask you to install a custom piece of software for remotely viewing your machine and walking you through certain steps. This is very simple and you can completely rely on it. They use SSL/TLS encryption (same as Lync), a live meeting protocol. It is a secure connection and you can cut it off any time if you are feeling unsecured. Just be relax and go for it feel free to allow a remote connection as you’ll be interacting with Microsoft.

Cannot use Firefox 12 on multiple desktops

Cannot use Firefox 12 on multiple desktops Firefox 12 is out now and available to download freely on the official website. The company has revealed that this new version web browser has several more abilities for Windows users. Do you think that it has the ability to use Firefox on multiple desktops? It seems to me that this ability has broken but I am not sure about it. Today morning I have upgraded the Firefox to version 12. Now when I open a profile on another desktop, it will open on a desktop rather than on the current desktop. I am using the Microsoft's Sysinternals 'Desktops' tool. It has worked perfectly during the previous version but I don’t know something have changed to break this function. However in this case, there is not link between the name of the Profiles. If your profile name is recognized as the default Profile, then you will see the Default=1 line under in profiles.ini file. If you are getting problem with Firefox on Multiple desktop, then follow this procedure. Open the Firefox and go to Edit menu>"Preferences". The administration console is enriched with new elements and syntax of a module Advanced preview (3D View Page Inspector). Performance is also revised upwards, they concern the OpenGL renderer and the JavaScript environment. After the installation, I have received an error message saying that the Norton toolbar is not compatible with Firefox 12. Firefox 12 is the last version for Windows XP Pro?

Firefox 12 is the last version for Windows XP Pro? It is good to hear that long awaited Firefox 12 is out from the Beta. It is now a complete version packed with several new features both for end users and developers along with hundreds or may be thousands of bug fixes. Finally looking forward to try out but in my case I am still using the Windows XP Pro service Pack 3. So I have doubt that whether the Firefox 12 will work on Windows XP Pro SP3 or not. I have previously heard that Firefox that will or may be going to appear in June 2012 will be the last version on Windows 2000 as well as Windows XP without Service Pack 2 or higher is run. This is due to a change in the development environment of Visual Studio 2005 to Visual Studio 2010, which no longer supports these old operating systems. Microsoft itself has discontinued support for its own OSs like Windows XP RTM, SP1, Windows XP and Windows 2000 respectively in 2010. Does Firefox 12 capable share a cache on profiles

Does Firefox 12 capable share a cache on profiles Currently there are two shortcuts to 2 different Firefox profiles. This has been made for my dual monitor. One shortcut is on the first monitor and another on my second. I want to be function when the Firefox saves previous session where it was closed and automatically opens in the same location. By this automatic feature of Firefox, it opens on the same monitor which I want it to be. There is no need to drag it back and forth. Do you think that is there any good way to do this other than creating 2 shortcuts on 2 different monitors? I don’t think that there is any easier way. I would like to share them from one centralized location other than saving two caches for 2 different profile and share the same setting. It just a waste of HDD space to have the same two caches. Reply With Quote #2 Unread 1 Week Ago Tikoo Tikoo is offline Member Join Date: Oct 2011 Posts: 92 Re: Does Firefox 12 capable share a cache on profiles I think that it is possible for you to set the location of the cache. But it is possible to share the cache only if you are not looking forward to open both profiles at the same time Cache directory location can be viewed in about:cache. You can also change the location by using the "browser.cache.disk.parent_directory" preference and inserting a folder path. When you restart the browser, a new directory named “Cache” will be created on your specified path. But there is a possibility that cache index files will get corrupted. The reason is, the Firefox is not developed to behave or work like this. Also, some only larger image and media files are stored separately and other files are saved in a container file. I don’t know what will happen with those. So it would be better not to open both profiles at the same time. This utility allows you to run multiple versions of Firefox side-by-side on a single computer. No matter if you are using a single monitor and dual monitor. Then bookmarks, extensions, browsing history, personal information and all other customizations are saved in your Firefox profile. In some cases, it may be useful to use different profiles for different situations. An example that comes to mind is the web developer who installed millemila extensions for developing and debugging their own web applications. So, it would be nice to use the profile "work" for his work as a developer, while the profile "default" for normal navigation. By default, you cannot run multiple instances of Firefox with different profiles. Since version 2.0 of Firefox was introduced a new parameter -no-remote. This allows us to make a second profile Firefox concurrently with the first. So, taking the 'previous example, after launching the first instance of Firefox normally, we can run concurrently with the second firefox.exe -P work -no-remote. If we want to optimize for ourselves, we have create the shortcuts on the desktop. On the properties of the icon we can modify the target field, adding two new parameters. Reply With Quote #5 Unread 6 Days Ago chuck28 chuck28 is offline Member Join Date: Jul 2011 Posts: 289 Re: Does Firefox 12 capable share a cache on profiles I think that you have to customize the profile. Start new profile while unchecking do not ask at startup! In addition to installing your favorite extensions for web development. Quit Firefox and restart again the usual way. The profile manager appears that you have unchecked Do not ask to start earlier, select your old profile and this time check Do not ask at startup. Now your profile surf classic will open by default, as was always the case. Now fill the new profile launch at the same time as that of normal surfing. Correct the small problem because we cannot open a Firefox profile at a time. Note: In the comments section I noted that there is the "-no-remote" when launching Firefox from the command line that eliminates the tax MOZ_NO_REMOTE. It m 'also reveals the extension Profile Switcher which can switch more easily from one profile to another as the command line (well it depends on our habits). This is an alternative for the following discussion. Reply With Quote Reply

Is it possible to change SSL certificate without restarting Firefox 12

Is it possible to change SSL certificate without restarting Firefox 12 My current workplace needs two different SSL certificates for a single particular website. It depends on what we do and what we are going to do. So there is always a need to keep changing the SSL certificate and each time I need to restart the browser in order to switch the SSL certificates. Restarting the Firefox is really unproductive because there are lots of things going on in browser and lots of things are open/running. I use several different tabs/windows. If I restart the firefox, I will lose all information/progress. Otherwise I need to wait for 20 minutes for certificate to time out and then Firefox will ask us to choose the certificate. This really won’t work all the time and really an asinine solution. Is there any way to force the Firefox to change certificates without restarting the browser when the website is currently in use? I think that you should either remove all the history or the single website from my history. In order to remove this, click on the Firefox button on top of the windows and go the History menu> Show All History to open the Library. Now there, search for a website which you want to remove from the history. Right click and select Remove or Delete. It will remove all the items (browsing and download history, cookies, cache, active logins, passwords, saved form data, exceptions for cookies, images, pop-ups) of that site. Now when you refresh the current windows or site, it will ask for new certificate to install. Choose yours and continue with it. Before it recognized neither Mint nor other certification or forty thousand, which is nothing new. If, as said above, it will add to the perfect Mint, good for them, but I think that this complaint is rather a tantrum because they now get a popup (with all due respect) and to ignore the message (still allowing it but you have to add an exception). For me it has improved, and pretty. On the other hand, SSL management seems very good (more strict than IE), and therefore advise against all faults SSL confirm that appear as exceptions, because then we'll get used to accept invalid certificates. I've found people complaining that the browser will not let them make trades when they were not really understanding the implications of the error that the browser was showing them. Reply With Quote

Hotmail Stopped working in Firefox 12

Hotmail Stopped working in Firefox 12 One day ago my Firefox has been updated to version 12. Everything is working fine with this new browser except the Hotmail. Whenever I try to login on Hotmail I am getting some kind of error and it happens even with all add-on disabled. The error message saying that Windows Live Network is unavailable from this site due to following reasons: Quote: This site may be experiencing a problem The site may not be a member of the Windows Live Network After this it is telling that try to login or sign up using other site for Windows Live Network, or try again later. In order to clear the Cache", go to: Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now". Same way to “Remove Cookies", Go to: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies". On the other hand I have also heard that the Hotmail is rolling out a server change at their end and I think that due to this you are having problem for now but I hope that it will be fixed very soon. Mozilla might have spoken to them to fix it. If I get any updates, I will let you know. You should verify this by launching the Firefox in safe mode: If the problem does not occur in safe mode, this means that the cause of the error is probably an extension or theme. For more information on diagnosing problems caused by extensions and themes, refer to page Troubleshooting extensions and themes. Reset your preferences. If the problem does not occur in safe mode but not fixed by disabling add-ons, you may need to undo the changes made to the default configuration of Firefox Sometimes problems can be caused by one or more plug-ins installed (such as Adobe Reader, Flash, Java, QuickTime, RealPlayer and Windows Media Player). If none of the operations described above is successful, continue with the instructions below. Then you have to create a new account or profile and try again. It is therefore recommended the creation of a new test profile to see if the problem is resolved in this way. If so, you can copy the new profile data (bookmarks, saved passwords, Etc..). Start the Profile Manager Create a new profile. From the Profile Manager, select the newly created profile and click Start Firefox. Check if the problem exists with the new profile. Otherwise, you can copy the new profile personal data - refer to the instructions in Recover data from an old profile. For resolving the problem, you should download only the files corresponding to your bookmarks and saved passwords. Some Firefox issues can be resolved by downloading the installer again from Mozilla and do a fresh install after you close the program and deleted the installation folder (program files). Firefox 12 requests to install maintenanceservice.exe and run at start-up

Firefox 12 requests to install maintenanceservice.exe and run at start-up I don’t know whether it is genuine or not but after installing the Firefox 12 on my computer, the firewall monitoring system request me to allow the installation of maintenanceservice.exe and run at start-up. This is really ridiculous. If it is genuine, then what firefox is doing here? They you should previously inform the users in advance telling that this kind of request may appear. I am not going to install It right away until I get a confirmation from the Mozilla. Tell me is this Genuine? Reply With Quote #2 Unread 1 Week Ago Rawana's Avatar Rawana Rawana is offline Member Join Date: Jan 2011 Posts: 259 Re: Firefox 12 requests to install maintenanceservice.exe and run at start-up Actually the Mozilla Maintenance Service is an optional service which is installed together with the Firefox. This service will install the updates automatically to the Firefox without the need of Windows User Account Control (UAC) dialog. Now user doesn’t need to manually click for the updates. Everything will be done automatically. When an update is available or downloaded, the Maintenance Service asks for the permission from Windows or its users to apply the updates without clicking yes Windows UAC. The till, the service does not run and it does not use any computer resources. Once the update is completed, the service quits automatically. (Which you get a UAC message anyway) That update service has sufficient rights to update Firefox. I cannot see how safe or unsafe that is. Furthermore, it seems to me that an administrator can disable the service if he does not want to have on its network. I'm not really fond of installing in the user folders like Chrome does. Security on Windows for that matter always remains a somewhat tricky balancing act. You want users to always use the latest version then automatic updates is almost a must, but you create there is a relatively attractive attack vector for malware along. Now the browser is installed with a service called Windows Mozilla Maintenance Service, which installs updates without annoying begging for rights. This is the technical core of the silent update ready to be implemented gradually to version 13. It had become imperative after Mozilla's update frequency had increased, and users increasingly annoyed responded. After a silent update when the browser initially denies also the reference to the need to restart. Only when the user 24 hours with the old version has continued to work, it is prompted to reboot. That is, according to Mozilla, but in practice is rare. The update service is to keep other programs such as Mozilla Thunderbird up to date and serve all channels (Released, Beta, Aurora and nightly builds). A chrome apostate makes Firefox easier to change the future: The Firefox 12 provides for the installation, the option to import settings from a previously used browser. Reply With Quote #5 Unread 6 Days Ago Roey Roey is offline Member Join Date: Aug 2011 Posts: 279 Re: Firefox 12 requests to install maintenanceservice.exe and run at start-up Actually the mozilla’s intention is to give users an option to opt out of the maintenance service conditionally. If you uncheck the Use a Background Serivce to do updates" in the Update Tab will keep the browser to check for the update now. Most people will not going to notice this service since it will not run unless there is an update to install. It is a background service from Mozilla. This is from Firefox 12 used to get round the UAC dialog (UAC) in Windows Vista and update up and install the updates. In the future, will take over this background service other maintenance work, which makes the Windows pre-fetching unnecessary and help to accelerate the startup of Firefox is not insignificant. The use of the background service is optional and, if need is felt, disabled from the settings, but can be uninstalled using the Control Panel. Reply With Quote

Firefox 12 crashes at first startup and opening preferences on MAC OS X 10.6.8

Firefox 12 crashes at first startup and opening preferences on MAC OS X 10.6.8 My Macbook pro is running MAC OS X 10.6.8. The new firefox 12 started crashing. I have updated the all the plug-ins but still the crash remains the same. The browser usually crashes when I first open it or when I try to open the preferences, extensions, or add-ons. I don’t know what is causing this. I don’t think that it is due to the extensions, or add-ons. If so, I could have got a error message at start up of Firefox saying that the add-on has crashed or restart the Firefox or something like that. Here it is crashing without any reasons. Actually there are no add-ons and extensions. I have only plug-ins installed and they are: QuickTime Silverlight flip4mac windows media Shockwave flash SharePoint browser plug-in for Microsoft office. Are you getting any kind of crash ID? When my Firefox crashed in my Mac, I have got an ID which was associated to the Breakpad crash reporter writing data to a file on disk. Also delete the %APPDATA%/Mozilla/Firefox/Crash Reports folder and see what you can get. This happens more with software firewalls if they are configured incorrectly due to lack of network knowledge. In the Windows FW is the basic protection (without the user must intervene in the configuration) is sufficient. And finally, in most cases, even the router firewall is active. If Windows would certainly active malware, a very plausible explanation. Otherwise, you have to check the plugins. Perhaps there has been an outdated plug in. It could be a plug-in that is responsible for Flash content. It should show up just a plugin named "Shockwave Flash" with the current version number. Also there should be no other plugin, the swf is responsible for the MIME type application / x-shockwave-flash and the ending feels. IIRC have old QuickTime versions had such an option. In general, it is necessary to prevent security holes. A good idea is to disable unneeded plug-ins using Add-ons> Plugins> Choose disable. This will help you to solve out most of the problems but in Mac I don’t think that there are tuning (cleaning) tools. You don’t see any error at all and then I could assume that it is just a system problem. However I don’t have any idea about the Mac but I have heard that nowadays Macs are infected by viruses and / or malware. This also could be a reason. In the latest version of Mac OS X (codenamed Lion). It included a bug that causes Firefox to crash when a website uses its own fonts. These must be downloaded before the site with the correct font displayed. Mozilla has released the new web font api's already added in the Mac versions of Firefox. So I don’t think that this bug is still survived in the Firefox 12 now. It was a bug in the next Mac OS X 10.7, which caused Firefox to crash when downloadable fonts were used. Something which Mozilla frequently, allowing users with severe crash problems were faced. There is also a solution to a problem that Apple's "Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 5" was introduced, allowing the Java plug-in was not loaded. Although the number of Firefox users on Mac OS X 10.5 through Mozilla is relatively small, the developer decided to fix the problem anyway. Updating can be done via the browser. Reply With Quote

Flash stopped working in Firefox 12, error while reinstalling

Flash stopped working in Firefox 12, error while reinstalling In Firefox 12, the flash has stopped working. I don’t know if it crashed or just stopped. I restarted the browser and it started working once again. Few minutes later it crashed again for the second time. For that reason I have uninstalled the Flash and tried to reinstall it once again but this time I have got the error message saying that version of Flash is not compatible. I used the registry cleaner and restored to an earlier point but still getting the same error during the installation. Reply With Quote #2 Unread 1 Week Ago Purujeet Purujeet is offline Member Join Date: Oct 2011 Posts: 71 Re: Flash stopped working in Firefox 12, error while reinstalling Make sure that you have got the latest Flash player for Firefox. Even if you are using a 64 bit Windows OS, you have to download and install 32 bit version Flash because Firefox is a 32 bit application. I am not sure this is the only case with you. However in order to get videos to work with your browser, you have to allow, flash/flashplayerplugin access to at least TCP port 1935 and probably TCP ports 80 as well as 443. Did you try disabling all plug-ins disabled and only Adobe flash plug-ins enabled? It seems to me that other plug-ins or extension causing this Flash plug-ins to crash or stop in the middle. It usually happens when you have installed any third party plug-ins which may functions similar to the Adobe Flash. If it is not the case, it is still to check the browser with Flash only enabled first. Flash is not lightweight, and there has been quite security flaws that make it vulnerable to the user. Now I have heard that Mozilla is preparing to make Firefox 14 load optional Flash as well as other accessories. The newer Firefox will not automatically load the add-only display but it displays a "Click to activate the plugin.” This ides is great and we can load the flash only needed in order to get a relief for performance, the battery in addition to computer security. Internet Explorer 9 is implemented ActiveX filtering that does exactly the same, and to enable the plug-in just need to go to the icon bar ban and re-enable the loading of ActiveX elements. IE also had this filtering from previous versions in version 9 but made it more accessible and easy to use. Firefox lately is copying a bit of all browsers, and do not innovate at all, and this points out the feature as a great innovation. Firefox 10.0.2 with Windows 8 consumer preview

Firefox 10.0.2 with Windows 8 consumer previewContents unreadable in Firefox 10.0.2 with Windows 8 consumer preview I was previously with windows 7 and then after the release of windows consumer preview, thought trying it. I am not satisfied with internet explorer as I have been using firefox for my online purposes and am addicted to its use. Internet explorer can be classified for intense security and it s play a major role. But I likes the way Mozilla responds, I am currently with Firefox 10.0.2 version and have encountered several issues regarding display of the content on some sites. It seems that there is some color change and the content seems to be unreadable. All my tabs and pulldown menu seems to be OK with no issues. So what could be the concerned issue. I made several attempts with starting Firefox in safe-mode but was with no positive result. I was with same issues as this is still happening even in the most recent nightly build in Windows 8 CP. I had an clean profile or else custom. I was using Default skin, something like a Persona. I made some check for my graphics driver as they might be the reason for the same. Using most recent nVidia 295.73 which is made to labor in Windows 8 CP. I later made some checks in hardware configurations and after disabling HA and restarting browser. It was all fixed. I later tried with Aurora on Win 8 and it was also working fine. Hardware Acceleration is on , by means of HD 5670 graphics card. And according to me, I think a lot of issues will be dependent on your hardware aceration along with drivers and the version of firefox. In addition , I also experience some more issues as Firefox button which is present in upper left has a strange fault on it that comes and goes and when I had glance on the add on button, it does not display properly. Updating the drivers along with the video card are tried earlier. But no positive consequences. The issue persisted both with the GeForce 296.17 along with 301.24. it was working great in windows 7 version. as well as the Metro brought a latest system, Start+P now has PC screen only, Duplicate, Extend, an Second Screen Only. So can you state me further reasons regarding same. Until the Firefox don’t update to fix the issue of Windows 8 compatibility, you can relate this fix. so what you can try is with Browsing to URL: about:config which is like an registry just for Mozilla Firefox settings. And then you need to search for: gfx.direct2d.disable and you need to set true. What you are basically doing is disabling Direct2D, or GPU-accelerated 2D graphics, in the browser. Windows 8 will tend to handle it slightly in a different way than Windows 7, which Firefox hasn't fixed on with yet. If that does not solve your issue, you need to follow the steps provided under to update the drivers and then press Windows key +P along with choose Multiple Monitor. Then you need to select device manager from the start icon and then right-click on the ‘Video card’ and then select ‘Update driver software’. Office live meeting is a conferencing solution by which you can engage people in online meetings, trainings and events. It can be easily downloaded from the Internet and you can test your computer’s compatibility with Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007 by visiting the following link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=90703 Using Microsoft Office Live Meeting it is very easy to host a meeting. The “Meet Now” feature enables you and your colleagues to collaborate at a moment’s notice. You can invite people with the help of “Meet Now” and “Outlook”. To start the meeting rightly Open Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007 Click “Meet Now”. You will get a note that you are now connecting to the meeting that have started Click “Meeting” and then click “Invite”. You will see two choices for ways to invite people: by email or Telephone. If you choose “By Email” Outlook will create a meeting invitation and if you choose call someone your telephone conference service will start the call. You should also invite yourself too, so that even you have the email message containing the “Join Meeting” link. The will provide you an access to rejoin or review the meeting later. If you do not want to use i.e. for no reason make note download prior installation of older version. First you have to start uninstalling Firefox that you can do in 2 ways: Via the control panel => application installations => (look for Mozilla Firefox in the list) => uninstall. window to start the "run" in the `boot, write in" C: \ Program Files \ Mozilla Firefox \ uninstall \ helper.exe "and press the Execute button In the Uninstall window, do not mark 'Remove personal information and settings in Firefox' that you do not want to lose any data stored in the browser for a possible fresh reinstall. After that you must install the old version, available for download at cnet site. Such downgrades only lead to that Vulnerability. So no matter whether your plug-ins are compatible or not. It is always better to get the latest version of firefox due to security concern.
