"A picture clarifies how cpu AMD Socket AM3 will maintain compatibility with Socket AM2 motherboards"
In recent days we have on several occasions had the opportunity to talk about the new cpu AMD Phenom X4 II, the next generation of desktop processors specifically developed by American producer of desktop systems for the medium high. I even published the first list of online retailers, which we have news on this page.
At the debut, scheduled for January 2009, AMD brings to the market in the first two versions of processor Phenom X4 II motherboards for Socket AM2 +, models II X4 Phenom 940 and Phenom X4 II 920. Only then will be presented the first option Socket AM3, mechanically and electrically compatible with the motherboard Socket AM2 +.
On the left a processor Socket AM3, place compared with a Socket AM2 on the left. Note how the number is below the pin Socket AM3 processor, which lost two points of contact thus maintaining compatibility with Socket AM2 motherboards. The same can not be said for Socket AM
